The time of the year has come again. Different political parties present their candidates for the Samahan Central Board (SCB), the student government of Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU), election. This election paves way to students to choose the next officers to guide, to help, and to govern the student body.
The Pinag-isang Lakas ng mga Progresibong Atenista (PIGLASAPAT), a socio-political organization now celebrating its 30th year in the Ateneo, introduced its set of candidates.

Amara Abrina | SAMAHAN PRESIDENT
The incumbent Secretary-General of Samahan Central Board, Amara Abrina of AB International Studies Major in American Studies, is now running for Samahan President. She is a recipient of Ten Outstanding Youth Organization Award in the Philippines. She is a National Youth Parliamentarian and a former 2nd year representative of Social Sciences Student Executive Council (SSSEC). Her reach is beyond the Philippine borders. She was the United Nations Youth Ambassador to Azerbaijan in 2014. Together with Tiu and Villarosa, they are just three of the 81 national delegates to the Ayala Young Leaders Congress.
Dexter Jake Villarosa | SAMAHAN SECRETARY-GENERAL
The Chairperson of the General Assembly of Class Presidents (GACP) is Dexter Jake Villarosa of 4th year BS Chemical Engineering. He has been a member and officer in GACP since he was in 1st year. He is the incumbent Internal Vice-President (IVP) of SCB. He also received awards like one of the Most Outstanding Third Years in AdDU, and Most Outstanding Youth of Davao in 2012. Aside from this, he is one of the delegates to the Ayala Young Leaders Congress.
Karla Tiu | SAMAHAN TREASURER
Karla Tiu is this academic year’s President of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA). She served as the Executive Vice-President (EVP) of the First Year Student Executive Council (FYSEC) in 2012-2013 and was awarded the Most Outstanding FYSEC officer. She is also a delegate to the Ayala Young Leaders Congress.
Louis Palma Gil | SOCIAL STUDIES CLUSTER
Louis Palma Gil is an incoming 4th year International Studies student. Aside from being a consistent President’s Lister, she was also active in National Service Training Program – Civic Welfare Training Service (NSTP-CWTS) of the Arrupe Office of Student Formation (AOSF). She was a Blue Knight Sui Generis Leadership Awardee. In the Ignatian Debate Cup, she was able to bag the 1st runner-up place.
Raphil Vince Saguan | HUMANITIES AND LETTERS CLUSTER
Raphil Vince Saguan is an AB Mass Communication 3-A student. He is very active in passion for performing arts which gave way to being the Stage Managing Director of Ateneo Sidlak Performing Arts Collective (ASPAC). He is also the current Internal Vice-President (IVP) of Samahan ng Mag-aaral ng Sining at Komunikasyon (SINIKOM) and a Mass Communication representative. This 3rd year student was the Ambassador of Goodwill in Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange Students and Youth (JENESYS 2.0 Mass Media) and a delegate of Philippines in ASEAN-India Student Programme.
Jayson Corpus | ENGINEERING AND ARCHITECTURE CLUSTER
Running for EA representative is Jayson F. Corpus, the current Architecture Representative of EASEC. He is a 4th year Architecture student and a volunteer in Ateneo Student Enrolment last year. He is also a part of the Production Staff of Awitenista, an annual songwriting composition in AdDU.
Ericka Gadat | EDUCATION CLUSTER
Ericka Gadat, a 3rd year student of BS Education, is currently majoring in English. She is the current President of Society of Ateneo Literature and English Majors (SALEM). She is also a member of Future Educators of Davao.
Mae Barrios |NATURAL SCIENCES AND MATHEMATICS CLUSTER
Mae Barrios of BS Biology is running for division representative. She’s been a member of General Assembly of Classroom Presidents (GACP) since 2014. She is the 2nd year representative and a member of (ARETE).
Maan Fidel |BUSINESS MANAGEMENT CLUSTER
Maan Fidel, an incoming 4th year student, is a consistent dean’s lister. She’s a member of ARETE Honors Society, SBG Leadership Academy, and Ateneo Society of Management Students, and an Ateneo First Year Orientation Program (AFYOP). The candidate also won awards such as Gawad 2014 and 2015, and an ARETE Honors Society Grand Slam Awardee.
Dan Timtim |ACCOUNTANCY CLUSTER
Dan Timtim is a 4th year student of Accountancy. He served as a Samahan Volunteer in his 1st year. He became their class president in 2nd year. Currently, he is the 4th year batch representative of BS Accountancy.
The campaign period started last Jan. 10, 2016 and will end on the 25th which will also be the miting de avance. The elections will commence in Jan 28-30.
